Stein is one of the best in the business, imho. How do you know, he doesn't have inside intel with the new Mavs front office?
Besides, when players are being discussed, there are many parties involved. FOs from multiple teams, agents,... I trust Stein has many many birds around that feed him news. And he has the knowledge to not just being played by one voice.
