Mavs often played washed veterans around Dirk thinking they were better than rookies, but ultimately the rookies proved to be better already (Justin Anderson/Dwight Powell/Jae Crowder) and it was not because of some amazing skills, but just because they played much harder on both ends than lazy has beens like Williams, Jefferson or Dalembert.

This Mavs team will try to win next season, and do so while integrating 2-3 rookies into their main rotation. We won´t slow play anything, but we need to smart play.

I don't even understand your question, sorry, and for sure don't understand what anything from the Dirk era has to do with the discussion.

There has been an ongoing discussion around here about how good the Mavs are likely to be right away, and some people (not me, obviously) have even suggested they'd trade 9 for established players in order to be good right away. Obviously, there are different levels to that thinking and obviously they're going to try to win games this season no matter how roster construction is approached.
