Given how sideways things have gotten with Cuban and Dumont, and that Cuban seems to have been the one pushing for Lindsey, I think he's a pretty unlikely hire in Dallas.

I see this as possible. Dumont might have decided hiring Lindsey is a potential way for the camel to get his nose under the edge of the tent, as they say. And I don't think Cuban thinking he is the wisdom-giver (or potentially crowing about how he figured out who Dumont should hire) would be a plus, generally speaking. 

On a semi-related angle. I would not read too much in what we don't know about Mavs GM search so far. We know some of the names CHI is talking to, but they leaked that. Dumont could have 10 eye-popping names lined up weeks ago to talk with, and not say anything, until he's selected someone.
