There are teams in football or soccer that repeatedly go back to the same clubs or youth academies that identify, sign and develop young players and then move them on for a gigantic profit. I´m thinking instead of paying 80M on each of these transfer, why not just buy their whole scouting and player development staff. That probably costs you like 2-3M a year in total for 10-15 people. You save millions and millions on the transfer fees.
And it´s the same in the NBA. The Grizzlies seemingly can identify and develop every person over 6 feet into an useful NBA player. #Omax How nobody has come after their scouting and player development staff is so weird to me.
Also the reported salary of Presti is allegedly $5M. That must be like Dirk´s minimum contracts, cause it makes no sense that Presti makes less money than Jaden Hardy. It´s impossible that not one of the major franchises has offered him 20M a year.
It doesn't cost less in soccer, because those teams are developmental teams. Getting the scouts won't make difference if you don't have the developmental platform they have.
In the NBA, Detroit tried to copy OKC model by hiring Presti top assistant Troy Weaver, and he ended up being the worst GM they could have ever asked for.
Unless you hire the top guy and get him all the needed power, hiring someone from another organization is equally risky.
