If gambling in TX is such a longshot and would require years of multi-million dollar investment (*campaign donations*) wouldn't it make sense for the Adelsons to cut their losses, recoup their investment and target getting the LV expansion rights? Or maybe Seattle, if Washington state is more open to gambling? (of which, I have no idea)
Who went to who? Did Cuban, possibly having some inside knowledge, go find an investment group or did they round up Cuban because he already owns part of the team? How much would they want to buy? 24% + Cuban = controlling interest but leaves Adelsons as the largest shareholder. This would leave operational headaches to Cuban and the investors but keep a Adelson interest in whatever arena expansion is envisioned for possible future exploitation. It took a long time to get a lottery started and alcohol sales have Or would Adelsons want to get all the way out to clear decks for something else?
TBH, it always felt weird to me that Cubes sold to a group with so little ties to Texas in general and DFW in specific.
Good questions, but I don't think any of this will be known for awhile.
