I don't have any trust in Cuban to rule out this is some sort of bizarre attempted negotiating tactic by him. But him buying back in makes no sense to me (unless Dumont-etc actually do want out). And I am not convinced Cuban's reign as owner was all that great in the decision-making either, so I'm not convinced this has any real benefit to Mavs fans no matter where it goes. One benefit gained by Dumont was he had the deep pockets that Cuban lacked, and I sure don't want that cheapness in charge again.
My guess is that the Dumont's have determined gambling will not get passed in the Texas legislature.
If they have decided to get out of the league and sell the team, then it's likely Cuban and the Dumont's have had ongoing discussions. Probably neither side wanted that leaked, but I can't imagine how this makes sense otherwise.
