The thing is, it does not make sense for a franchise to pay a massive repeater tax for a rebuilding team. The question is not whether he is cheap, its whether is completely reckless with his money or not. So far, there has been no evidence that he intends to be reckless.
I would assume that, like most businessmen, they are looking for good value, however they perceive it. Sometimes that takes the form of a “loss leader” that achieves profitability in an adjacent space.
Sometimes it takes the form of a big capital gain, that dwarfs whatever operating losses a company sustains in the short or medium term.
So perhaps a better question is: “how do the new owners perceive value?”
