I like this.  We could probably use someone like TJD to play center.  I’d also seek to add a Kennard for Martin swap to the deal since Dallas is taking on Trae.

One advantage to this for the front office is that the Luka deal is still incomplete.  There is still some chance to get some return for Trae.  Additionally, adding more players like Gafford and Thompson starts to muddy and direct “all we got for Luka was” talk that you would better be able to isolate in a deal where it is just expiring contracts and picks plus Risacher.

I came up with the exact same trade, but I’d insist on the NOP pick instead of the Cavs pick. I almost included this proposal in my initial post about Kuminga but didn’t want to distract from the conversation about Kuminga.

I still don’t buy that the NOP is untouchable. It’s the price you pay for turning Young and Risacher into AD. The Hawks are a .500 team in an east which is wide open. I think they are desperate enough to do this.
