The Mavericks have formally applied to the league office for a Disabled Player Exception on both Dereck Lively II and Dante Exum, league sources say.

A few things here:
-Exum DPE will be worth $1.1M if approved. Lively DPE will be worth $2.6M if approved
-DAL will have until March 10 to use either DPE on a rest-of-season signing (or trade/waiver acquisition for a player on an expiring contract)
-DAL can't sign and fit in a player under their second-apron hard cap until January 6
-DAL will need to create a roster spot (DPE is a signing exception, not a roster exception)
