That was a good team, but less than what it was pre trade and I don't think it had a chance if you mean getting to the finals.  It simply did not have enough offensive creation.  Kyrie is not a true point guard.  He has always been best off ball next to a larger ball dominate player (LeBron, Luka).  There was nobody to help carry the creation load (and they traded away one of the few guys on the roster that could have helped)...

Pre-Luka trade. And pre-Grimes trade we had a chance for the finals.  We've had OKC's number.  We make the finals, we're beating Indiana. That could have been a lost championship because of that stupid trade. Both stupid trades.

Post-Luka/Grimes trades with a healthy Kyrie, AD, Lively.  I believe they could have made it to the West Finals. Do they beat OKC? Again, we had their number.  Add in the size of AD, Gafford, Lively, PJ.  It really disrupts OKC.  We had Max, Naji, Exum to guard (pick up fouls) on Shai.  Nuggets took them to 7 games, they were not unbeatable.
