Bottom line, they low-balled Turner with that 3 yr/ 60 mil offer. They haven't paid into the luxury tax since 2005. This should have been an exception, I would think. Now he's going to a very much-hated rival in your division. I think he sent them a message doing this.  How do you do that to a 10-year veteran who's an integral part of your team?

I think they decided he wasn't worth more than that, especially after his very average playoff performance.

Rather than overpay, and tie their hands with a bloated contract for several years, they were willing to let him walk.

I think they sent him a message by doing that.
