Eventually it is likely to end with someone who wants more minutes and players getting moved as a result, but for a season at least (until a pecking order sorts itself out), Mavs should have real depth.
I agree with the above, which is the only reason I'm not losing my mind about the Gafford situation, or that they didn't rush into a PJW trade as an alternative. I feel strongly that if a deal for a difference making perimeter player was possible it would have been wise to cash one or both of them in at this juncture, but it's possible that no such deal is out there this summer. If that's the case (we'll never know), I obviously agree that retaining the talented players you like is better than bringing in lesser players just because they play a position of need. Worst case scenario, NOW, is that we see some of our concerns play out and they have to figure out how to fix them, but they're more likely to have the tools to do so if they keep lots of good players, to your point. And, to your other point, this gives them a chance to confirm what areas need addressing.
