I know Cam Whitmore may be a gunner, but if I am a bad team he would really interest me. I wonder what his market value is?
Some ideas related to Whitmore and DFS are floating around.
Houston can offer DFS full MLE. Not sure why Lakers wouldn't match that or why DFS would be so more willing to go to Houston than resign with Lakers for same money. Houston could offer more for DFS doing a SnT with Whitmore and Landale. Whitmore would be headed to a third team for a center. Of course additional pieces could be involved pending on who that center would be.
Connecting together some dots. No idea why Utah traded for Nurkic with Kessler and Filipowski on the team. Lakers are long rumored to be after Kessler, but their offer is light with just one FRP and Knecht. Whitmore could be a very interesting player for a team like Utah. Although there is some overlap with Ace Bailey. Whitmore+2031FRP+Knecht is a nice package.
Another option I could see is a similar concept with NO. They just gave an unprotected FRP for that centar at #13. It would be strange if he is not their starter, which makes Yves Missi a bit redundant. He had a good rookie season, but he is not that special. Whitmore+2031 pick+Knecht for Jones+Missi could be fair value. Of course someone in his right mind wouldn't trade such an excellent defender as Jones, but NO has made more head scratching moves lately.
