In this construct, we aren't giving up much and we are getting paid something to take on the money. I don't really want picks 22, 28 and 32 in this year's draft. I'd much rather have a pick (even a 'worst of' pick) in 2027 so that we can free up some flexibility to trade picks going forward.
Yeah, doubt we would have interest in 3 more draft picks in this draft. I would probably be fine with 22 and even future seconds. A future first would be awesome.
Boston fans may be bummed, but they do clear a lot of money while getting a rotation player cost controlled for a few more years. No idea if Martin can be healthy. Atlanta may think 22 is rich. But if they leave the draft with pick 13 and Gafford that is a pretty good fit moving forward. They would have a pretty good rotation at Center with guys who compliment each other pretty well.
Adding all that salary is tough or Dallas. At least we are not giving away core pieces (outside of Gafford if you consider him core).
I also wonder if the Nets would get a pick for taking on Hardy. He is not a bad contract, but he is not really a need. Plus, they are going to have a lot of interest from teams to take on players. So they could do a bidding war. My initial thought is they do not take on Hardy for free. Edit...they do get a future Boston second in the above. I just think they may want more.
