Among other things they were talking about Mavs sales people having to call up folks, trying to sell tickets and renewals of tickets and the abuse these innocents were having to take from those that they were talking to on the phone. It was something I hadn't considered. I imagined myself in that position, both ways. As the person trying to make the sale, and the fan they were trying to sell to. Immediately after The Trade, I can't imagine myself being any kind of polite had anyone tried selling me tickets at that point in time. How much better has it gotten, since? Management has to be aware of the issue. It would still be an issue, with me, I'm wondering if it's still an issue fanbase wide. The Trade screwed the pooch with fans. How deep does it go? How long does ownership let this drag out before they do, what I think, is the right thing, and fire Nico?
Winning the lotto helped quite a bit for many fans. I thought I saw a number some where that in the 3 days after the lotto, their ticket sales went up like $7 million. They just got extremely lucky (or got what they were "owed" for some).
It still won't erase the Luka trade immediately.
Luka meant so much to this town, not just because he was a generational talent - but because of how he seemed off the court. Was always joking around, making the game fun. He seemed like someone you could go have some beers with and not some larger than life superstar that wouldn't give you the time of day. I have no idea personally if that was true or not, but it's the perception that I always felt. Same for my kids, he was just a grown kid, having fun playing the game of basketball....that could turn into a stone cold killer at the drop of a dime. Was great to watch, but also might end up being the downfall of his career as he gets older.
Flagg on the other hand seems like a professional....more like Dirk in a way. He's going to work his butt off trying to be the best player he can.
Two different players but given a little time and success, I think the fans will ease right into cheering on another drafted Superstar towards Championship.
