Everything is pretty much on hold until after the championship series and you can only preview the draft so many times. So they have fallen to dreaming up trade scenarios to keep the clicks coming. Mostly I ignore these except for the amusement of "what were they smoking when coming up with this?"
One that is kind of annoying (in that it shows the depths of idiocy some will bend to) because it has popped up a few places is DAL's 2025 #1 to PHX for Booker, 2025 #29 and least favorable pick swaps in 2028 (NYK/WAS) and 2029 (CLE/MIN/UTA). I mean you would expect a writer covering the league to have some concept of real value of the components of a trade. Booker is a hell of a talent, but (given the history) why would anyone expect him to happily settle in DAL and play productively?
Anybody sense I don't have much patience with most beat writers?
Someone else posted this - maybe Knutsen - that this particular draft\trade article is a standard, cookie-cutter article that comes out at this time every year. You just switch around a draft pick and some trade fodder, and plug it into an article generator. It's ESPN filler.
It's like a merangue topping. Most of it is just air. No one actually believes it, but apparently those articles are popular - just like they are on a message board.
