There is NO scenario in which you can say with 100% certainty "We've got that covered."
We're dealing with uncertainty at every moment. Who could have foreseen that the Mavs would be playing a substantial number of games with no bigs available last year? Really? What are the odds?
Because it happened once, do you feel compelled to mitigate against it now? So, maybe the Mavs should be trying to trade for another center right now, just so they can be "certain" that it won't be a problem.
Sometimes injuries happen. Sometimes you lose as a result.
