I have to say after taking a 2 1/2 months break not only from the Mavs, but the NBA in general (haven´t watched a single minute, read the board) the play-off have me itching a bit. I can honest to god say that I won´t be a Mavs fan again, until they change full ownership. I was disappointed, when the Kings lost and happy, when I saw the 2nd quarter boxscore against Memphis.
With some time to reflect my final thoughts are:
Cuban was embarrassing himself for the final time with his in-arena behaviour and trying to wash his hands clean of hiring this idiot and selling the team to these owners, who have no clue about or passion for basketball.
All new owners make dumb decisions (see Clippers, Rockets, Suns and Kings), but at least you know they care about basketball and are willing to pay and learn. You have to understand that there is still a chance these new Mavs owners are not only clueless, but also incredibly cheap, because they don´t care.
Also don´t do it yourself regarding the draft. Nico will trade literally every pick for Durant. It only matters to Phoenix, whether the Mavs pick #1, #3 or #12.
Finally the more I look at these last years, it´s pretty obvious Jason Kidd is the true puppeteer in all of this. All the pre and post-Lindsey trades have the classic signs of a head coach making management decisions, which has proven to the worst concept in professional sports. He made all those calls on starting center McGee, targeting AD and trading Luka/Grimes. Nico is just an utter moron, so who do you think he consulted on how to improve the team? Of course his buddy, the head coach Jason Kidd, the PG genius.
I must say Lindsey deserves tremendous credit for his 12 months job as shadow GM, that brought some final(s) joy. Not for the modern GM moves he pulled off. That´s basically standard procedure for every successful GM. That he somehow navigated to get his will against the stupid ideas of Cuban/Kidd is impressive. He obviously knew, which buttons to push on that narcissistic simpleton Nico. Funny that both destructive dumbasses Trump and Nico are financed by Miriam Adelson, only one deports foreigners to LA, the other Americans to El Salvador.
Typing this out I realized, I´ll be cheering for Luka, DFS and Maxi to win the championship. Next year I´ll probably cheer for Hardy, Lively and PJ in Phoenix a bit.
