Stole this from my post in another thread around a week ago. First time I saw Anthony Black last night. He was pretty good. He has gotten bigger though and I am not really a fan of that. He is probably going to be tough to get anyway. The more I think about it, I think either Poole or Sexton will be the targets. IMO the Mavs are desperate for guard play. I think Kyrie typically takes longer to return from injury so you have to probably expect he misses most of next year. The Mavs can't be very good with their current guard play. Before the trade deadline there was a fake trade of Sexton to Dallas for our first and Gafford. I wasn't crazy about that because I really like Gafford and didn't think adding another small guard next to Kyrie was the best way to uses our assets. That has changed. Our pick is higher, so I would try to give a role player instead of Gafford. Still not sure he would be worth the lottery pick. Although he would add guard play we desperately need. Then be a 6th man or trade piece when Kyrie is healthy. Poole is more of a gamble, but will cost less than Sexton.

Jrue Holiday ?- Probably too expensive but will be available
Lonzo Ball ? big injury concerns
Ben Simmons? Not a serious player
DLo? Probably doesn't fit the architect we are looking for
Tyus Jones? Probably similar to what we have and is a backup
Anthony Black? REally young and have not seen him but he would intrigue me. Would take our first probably. Not sure if he is ready for that role though
Jordan Poole? Probably not the fit we are looking for
Jordan Clarkson? Probably not the role we would be looking for
Collin Sexton? Will require a good package being sent to Utah. Do we really want a small guard?
Malcolm Brogdon? Always been a fan, but he is older now. Could be a decent stop gap. Not sure how much time he would get over the current teammates though.



I will need to think more. Ideally this player is a bigger player who can play with Kyrie and also lead the team when Kyrie is out.
