The kicker to me is that they had really built the perfect team around Luka - if they just would have waited for him to come back from injury...

This is my biggest resentment. Why not giving it a chance? Yes, Luka would be expiring in the summer and he would have leverage where he wants to be traded to. Or perhaps he would say he wants to test free agency in such a case, who knows. But even in this kind of circumstances, it doesn't really happen that these kind of players are just gifted away. I find it difficult to believe that exact same Lakers offer wouldn't be on the table in the summer (unless of course Luka would say, he doesn't want to resign with Lakers).
