Dalton speculating on Lavine who makes $19.5 a year through the end of the 2022 season. He's a Duffy guy. He's never been on a winning team and he's never had a positive on-court number. This is the first season he's had a positive Real +/- (barely). It was among the league worst a couple of seasons ago. It is hard to know what you have with him until you see him in your uniform with your players. There certainly isn't 30% usage available on a team with Luka. Hardaway has looked better with decreased usage. It is arguable KP has looked worse, but it is hard to know how much rust and a changed role is playing into this.
Lavine certainly doesn't help your D. But offensively you could always have two of KP, Luka and Zach on the court at the same time. We've seen some 5 out lineups since Powell has been down that have featured Curry as a starter. Imagine replacing Curry with Lavine to form a KP/DFS/THJ/Lavine/Luka starting lineup. Against certain teams you can change out DFS for Maxi. That is a lot of firepower.
If I were proposing a deal, I'd include Curry and pick(s) along with Lee and I'd take back Felicio. That would get Chicago in the neighborhood of a max 0-6 year player this coming summer. The problem with this thinking is it seems almost certain Chicago could get more. Maybe fans overvalue PPG and think more highly of him than teams do. Maybe he isn't as valuable around the league (kind of a 26 ppg reclamation project).
