Some consolation, perhaps. Grimes wasn't affordable, to stay in Dallas (because of payroll limits in a hard cap world). So it was smart to trade him for useful talent - if Martin ever gets well and then plays well, it's not the biggie it seems today with a big stat line.
Also, gotta be real and admit that had QG stayed, he had no window to the minutes he is playing in Philly. And one more observation about his play in Philly that was glaring tonight -- his plus/minus has been awful in Philly. When his scoring is up at the same time, it's probably indicating his D is pretty bad. (Tonight he was a -5.) So he's probably not the defender we wanted to think he was.
(Of course, Martin then creates a bigger problem if he sux and he's stuck on their payroll forever.)
In the best case, it was still incredibly idiotic to make a BAD deal just to get him moved, however. Same as when Nico got raped trading Luka. A talented GM will get the pick, not give it. Nico is such an idiot.
