Try to remember all of the great chemistry plays between Kyrie and Lively (or Gafford, for that matter). There aren't many, and Kyrie, great as he is, is not a pick and roll PG. Is that even the offense they're about to run?
Lively is still on track to be great, defensively, of course. But as far as I'm concerned, he needs a Luka...or a prime CP3, or a Harden, or an SGA, or a BRUNSON, or some other GREAT pick and roll guy, to do his thing on offense. Since they're not likely to get one of those guys until Lively is like 28, maybe not even then, I find it hard to care whether he is here much longer, and doubly so for Gafford.
I will say though, Lively has flashed a post game and incredible touch.
I don’t think he’s solely a lob catcher. Of course he’s elite at that, and to truly unlock full value from Lively you need a guard that can find those angles.
