Absolutely hate his offense and absolute hate his regular season coaching if you can call it that. Yet the players seem to like playing for him and you can’t argue with his post-season success. Right now the Mavs are hard to watch. Because of injuries there has been no continuity and integration of new players. Sometimes Marshall/Grimes/Klay seem to have turned a corner then a few games later play like they haven’t got a clue as to what’s going on. That’s on Kidd. Having Luka out an extended period not only highlights the weaknesses of other players it amplifies Kidd’s lack of offensive strategy as well. I’ll been complaining and wanting to see an offensive coordinator type coach added to this staff but it’s yet to happen. Maybe new ownership sees what we see and will hire an offensive coaching Guru in the offseason. Until then all we can do is complain or just turn off the TV, at least until the post-season assuming Luka and the rest of the team is healthy.
One last thought….this team if healthy can/will beat anyone in the West with the possible exception of OKC. The Thunder right now are just playing at a level where its hard to see anyone truly challenging them in the West. But I guarantee NO ONE wants to play a healthy Mavs team in a 7 game series even OKC.
I think there is a great chance that we will never see this team fully healthy. This isn’t just bad luck. There must be some severe problems behind the scenes with the training staff / players being not ready physically due to whatever reasons (poor preparation or just age-related stuff)
All we need is a Kyrie ankle sprain for 2-3 weeks and this season is over. Zero way of replacing all that fire power.
At this point they have to work the FA market. They desperately need another guard who can run a halfcourt set or at least provide a scoring boost.
