I might feel differently by the trade deadline, but for now, this roster feels pretty complete to me. There are obviously upgrades out there, but maybe not names that are available, and I'd be hesitant to sacrifice the salary structure and depth they have set up right now for only a marginal upgrade in one area.
Ya I can't imagine anything happening to this roster because it's completeness but also because next season will be very easy to put together a very strong package depending on what happens this offseason. I assume we'll see Luka extend and Kyrie opt out and resign (hopefully to a lower number but with the years he wants) and then you have 40M of expiring between Maxi/PJ/Gafford to either extend or trade or eventually lose for nothing. PJ will be prioritized and it seems like Maxi will be the one shopped the heaviest. I have a feeling people are going to be disappointed when Gafford rumors start up next year because Gafford will expire the same offseason Lively is up for an extension and there's no way we can afford both once Lively is off his rookie deal.
The other thing to keep in mind is that Nico seems very active on draft nights and not making any move now helps position us to be very aggressive on draft night. We have our own 1st, 2 seconds and OMax that you can work with and find ways to move up to find a name you like. I think with how close we are to the second apron that prioritizing finding a contributor on a rookie contract may be something they're considering moving forward.
