My understanding is TNT still owns "inside the NBA" and the crew are employee there. ESPN is just a platform that is buying some of the episodes or all. But they stay where they are.

Look at it like NBA games, the NBA is the owner but ESPN broadcast it. They are treating the show like the games.

It's a licensing play, with TNT's entity "Inside the NBA" (including its sets, cast, crew, and more) being licensed (or rented out for rebranding) to another network, for a fee. The cast will still be under contract to TNT, who is then selling the "live shows" to another network to fill their air time. It should look very much the same, be done in TNT studios, etc, but on another network (without the TNT logo of course).
