But what really keeps me optimistic is knowing Kidd treats the preseason as a joke and the first half of the season as training camp. We won’t know what we’ve got till the All-Star break.
I buy the preseason assessment, but I´m not sure about the first half of the season. Aside from load management, which the majority of (older) teams do nowadays, I don´t think we would have improved that much without the great trades last season.
Plus the West is ridiculous and our opening schedule is difficult.
First 17 games
Utah twice, who are a lot better than they let on. Last season they started 26-26 before going into a deep 5-25 tank. So bad spot in the schedule. In November you have a fight on your hands. In April you get two freebies.
Spurs twice, where let´s be honest nobody knows what to expect from Wembanyama/Pop. Probably a similar story to Utah, unless Wembanyama is so good
that they abort the 2nd half tank completely later.
The other 13 games the 39-43 Bulls are the only team under 0.500 from last season.
We have to be ready to play.
