Interesting. I was under the impression he still had two way options after thinking this had expired after the season. Can they still bring him back?
IMO, he was given enough time. Nice player, probably just a notch below or one of many guys good enough for the NBA but where there are not enough spots available. Maybe Dallas saw enough with one of their younger guys in camp already?
There's a weird rule when it comes to 2-way's that actually has me confused:
https://cbabreakdown.com/contract-types/
Quote:A Two-Way Contract cannot be signed by a player that has (or may have during its term) 4 or more years of service (for example, a player with 3 years of service cannot sign a 2-year Two-Way Contract). Nor can a player sign a Two-Way Contract that would result in the player being under a Two-Way Contract for any part of more than 3 seasons with the same team (for example, a player that just completed a 2-year Two-Way Contract cannot then sign another 2-year Two-Way Contract with that team).
Lawson has already 2 years of qualified service with the Mavs under a 2-way contract. So is he eligible for 1 more year with a 2-way? Or has his eligibility ran up (as in only up-to 3 years).
He still has 2 years of 2-way eligibility left with any other team not named the Mavs.
