I guess we have to wait and see how the team looks and gels before we see what we're desperately missing.
It's so weird to look at a Mavs roster and think "we're pretty balanced everywhere and not dying for any particular need"
Basically haven't felt that way since 2011.
There is an apparent logjam at the guard position. Spencer, Exum, Grimes, and Hardy all can get and deserve minutes. I remember earlier in the summer Killer was adamant that Hardy was going to be squeezed out. Kidd came out during training camp that he will get an opportunity.
Feels like if anyone, Exum is probably going to ride the bench. Which is insane for me given he alone probably won the Mavs 4 games last season based of his play.
I think Dinwiddie might return in his role as a 3rd guard and play as a pressure release ball handler. That neatly organizes the guard position with Exum/Hardy playing off each other, with Grimes/Dinwiddie playing up a position at the 3 if needed.
Exum/Grimes/Dinwiddie could be a probable lineup. The defense isn't even that bad given Grimes+Exum can hold their own.
