The Knicks are loading up.  Some players aren't making the roster. Could they sign Morris and Shamet, and still cut them before the season?

Yes. They have 14 contracts with guarantees. They have room to add a 15th player at the minimum, if they wish.

Players 15-16-17 under contract are Okeke, Shamet, and Morris. All are one-year minimum contracts, with no guarantee at all (until Jan 10, 2025). Their plan may be to let them compete in camp and pick one (or none) to keep, while waiving the others.
