SL Game 1: UTA vs. DAL| NBA TV @ 9:30pm CST
#8
Big chance for everyone.  Omax is clearly the most important player on the team, but there are others with a lot on the line:

*Brandon Williams-  Mavs signed him to a two way in the middle of the year because they didn't have a third point guard and were dealing with injuries.  They desperately needed an emergency stop gap if they had more injuries.  He played limited games in the G league after joining the team and hardly played for the real team.  A good week from him will stabilize his two way spot and could allow the Mavs to not look for a veteran PG to fill out the roster.

*Alex Fudge-  He pretty much got a two way spot because he is a great athlete.  He really hasn't had a lot of success on the basketball court (compared to other two way guys).  He needs to show he has developmental skills that the team will want to wait for.    I would say it is 50/50 if he keeps his two way.  I really can't give a firm opinion on him, but just by initial thoughts I would want someone more skilled/developed.

*AJ Lawson-  He has a lot of things to like.  He plays hard.  He is extremely athletic.  The question is defense and shooting.  Shooting mainly.  He can't be a 30% three point shooter.  When I say defense, he needs to be a guy who just causes problems for scorers.  I am not sure if he does this or not.  I remember last summer, Dudley was asking him to be more aggressive.  He said in scrimmages he would go the whole practice without fouling.  He wanted him to play with more force.

*Jazian Gortman-  Being 6'2 really limits your avenues for success in the NBA.  I watched his High School and Overtime Elite highlights.  I am not a fan of these type of games.  A lot of showtime and ball dominating plays.  He is very athletic though.  If you squint you can see a dennis Schroeder type.  I am just not a fan of guys who skip steps (same with Bronny).  College isn't what it used to be, but going to college for 2-3 years and growing into a more well rounded basketball player is the clear way to go for these guys.    Now they are left with grinding and hoping a team stays patient with them as they learn to play.    No matter what his wing span is, 6'2 height is tough.

edit- I keep forgetting about Melvin.  To be honest, I couldn't take much from his highlights.  Tough to know when they were from or what the competition level was.   His highlights didn't blow me away.  I don't have too many expectations on a late second round pick.  Although, for a 3 and D guy you really need to see them on the court.   Some guys you know right away they do or don't have that complimentary skill.   I suspect he is more of a future prospect that may come over in a year or two, but a strong showing could speed things up.
