So while we're waiting...

Did we ever get confirmation on the whole agent waiting period that Cato reported?  Was that completely bogus?

The rule is legit.  A player has to wait 15 days after ditching their agent to sign with a new agency.  Obviously that didn't impact his ability to finalize a deal.  

Edit:  Also found this quote from the Cato article in the Athletic:

On Sunday morning, one Mavericks source had shared optimism that this strange scenario, never before encountered, could have resolution as soon as Sunday. Jones could still negotiate his next contract through Turner, the president of Verus Management, who has represented him since entering the league. Jones and Turner could also reach a mutual agreement to waive the contractual waiting period, allowing Klutch to take him on as a client sooner

So there were two paths forward, and they probably paid Versus to waive the waiting period.
