I don't care about optics, because optics really only matters to losers... if you think about it. 

I like winning. Really, no one cares about anything else, in sports. History only remembers the winners. Ask GSW, ask Lebron, etc.

dude is a good player and players of that talent level are simply beyond our reach most times. but the potential of him causing locker room disharmony is a risk that has to be considered. he may be a good signing on the right deal (partially guaranteed contract for example) though.
