This agent thing with DJJ makes today kind of interesting...and potentially a bit maddening.  I don't see risk on the DJJ side of things because of the agent thing, but I do see the potential for delay.

So, let's say they announce Klay S&T to Dallas.  Is it just announced as a salary number, or does it include outgoing players.    

If Green isn't going to GSW, do they announce a different Green trade immediately?  Or, do they wait?  

Once you have Thompson's salary number and know what is happening with Green, it is pretty easy to figure out DJJ's number.  It if isn't the full NT MLE, does that feel too much like a concluded negotiation?

Is anyone else outgoing (GSW has a TPE large enough to take in Hardy).  Is that the compensation and Green is a straight deal for draft compensation?

DJJ is a Dallas FA, so there have been no restrictions on negotiations and talking with the Mavs. I'm sure the Mavs already have been given a working range of how much it will take to re-sign him, and will work to that end. They can't actually offer to him until they have something to offer, and they can't know what they have to offer until they finish elsewhere.

FWIW it's way more likely than not, as I see it, that if they get Klay, it will be rolled into the DET deal for greater flexibility all around.

If you're looking for more cap room to sign Klay + DJJ, including Hardy in a trade is not the answer. Trading him would actually yield about -70,000 in cap room, because you have to re-fill the roster slot with a more expensive player. Every time you add an outgoing player to the pile, gotta subtract 2.1M from his salary to see what is gained (if anything).
