I think the comment about the THJ trade not being finalized is more about clarity on the structure. Whether Dallas fits Grimes into a TPE here or simply into THJ's space affects the size of the TPE Dallas receives.

Yes.  Putting Grimes into an old TPE is another thing that hard-caps you at the first apron.  So, there are versions where you look at THJ as a $16.2mm TPE with Grimes going into an old TPE.  There are versions where you think of THJ as a trade matching mechanism (could be in combination with other players), but you have to net out Grimes.

That is the path to bringing in a non S&T player for more money than we are talking about with Thompson and there are ways to do it without hard-capping yourself.
