Everything you NEED to know about the race to secure Klay Thompson, the Mavericks and the Lakers. ⬇️?
Tons of information from Marc Stein.
- The Warriors struck out on Paul George and now fear they may lose Thompson as well.
- Dallas is currently the front runner.
- “League sources continued to stress to The Stein Line that there will be strong mutual interest between Thompson and the Mavericks.”
- The Mavericks are expected to make a competitive three year offer thanks to the new flexibility from the THJ trade.
- “The Mavericks are undeniably prepared to make signing Thompson their offseason priority — even ahead of re-signing Derrick Jones Jr.”
- The Warriors are open to facilitating a sign and trade, despite the current relationship with Klay.
- The Mavericks true goal is to acquire Klay AND keep Derrick Jones Jr.
- If they are to lose Jones, they are expected to turn to Naji Marshall.
Tomorrow will be one hell of a day.
Also wanted to post this, but I will just reply again, so people can have another read

Most important info: if Thompson comes, he will be a starter
I doubt GSW would entertain any salary back in a SnT. They want to get significantly better for Curry, they don't want some 8th best players on MLE level money (they have plenty of guys like that on rookie deals), much less so the likes of D'Angelo Russell. These guys would be preventing them from any potential big swings using CP3 deal.
I don't think Lakers would be really interested in a SnT, where they would have to pay assets to someone to take Russell. I think Lakers are trying to get two deals. One is using their contracts (preferably DLo) and assets for a very good player and the other one is MLE. I don't think they will offer Thompson more than MLE.
