He´s virtually the same player as THJ, Hardy, Green, Grimes, Exum and DJJ. He´s played 159 play-off career games and had more than five assists, three times. He´s just another catch & shoot option, especially with reduced athleticism he´s not getting to the rim anymore. The advanced stats from the Warriors suggest you better off with CP3 or Saric. Shit for 15-18 MPG in the play-offs CP3 actually fits what we need better than Klay. Somebody that can run a 2nd unit and set up Hardy, Green, Grimes and Gafford/Lively.
CP would be good but his salary is an obstacle, maybe he gets waived some time later then we can sign him for vet min. I agree 100% with you bro on almost every thing you pointed out. Klay would be a good choice if he accepts MLE or something a bit bigger, but he is demanding too much financially and that would offset all the flexibility the Grimes deal had just given us, which we paid 3 picks for. and I'm not sure if Klay would be happy with a sixth man role (or a token starter, de facto sixth man). we can play him alongside either Kyrie or luka, but not both (except some rare occasions where we need scoring badly).
if we're to acquire a third option i think he should be a decent initiator in offense that can create his own shots regularly, at the very least, but that doesn't seem to be a strength for Klay tbh. he would still be an excellent role player though, given his elite shooting and massive experiences. if he could be had for less than 20m/yr (that should be the biggest figure we can afford for a role player and that would be higher than PJ's and Gifford's salaries already) on a not so long contract, I wouldn't call it a bad deal. otherwise the mavs may as well just move on tbh.
