Jalen Smith has been mentioned more than once, but ...
1 There's no apparent path to get him.
2 The 5.4M salary looks like a bargain, except that's the deal he didn't want, and declined. No idea how much more it might take. (If he wants to take a minimum, the Mavs might have an opening, but I doubt that's his plan.)
3 His counting numbers and percentages look good, but I think they are deceptive. Not sure what he lacks, because I don't watch Indy. I do know that despite the good numbers, he only gets 17-18 mpg, and he was not playable in the playoffs for Indy (only 42 total minutes in the Pacers 17 games). That inability to get much of a role speaks volumes to me.
