Someone explain to me... If we are far enough under the apron to offer the full MLE now to DJJ once FA opens. Why can't we do that then trade Maxi + green + w/e else filler for a player we want at a = cap hit

If we use the regular MLE, the Mavs are hard capped at the teams total roster salary of 178.6. No matter what we cannot cross that number. So there is nothing stopping us from using Green+Maxi for someone, as long as they stay under that 178.6. Right now if the Mavs signed DJJ to that full MLE, they'd have about 1.7mil of space before that 178.6 number comes into play.

Green+Maxi make roughly ~25 mil. Realistically they can get someone up to ~22 mil in such a case and be safe from the 1st apron hard cap (because we have to account for minimum roster spots worth ~2mil each)

If they add Powell, add 2 mill to that number they can trade for (4mil-2mil vet min charge for the replacement for Powell). Etc.
