Oddly, that does create a scenario in which Shamet-to-Dallas might be considered. That's a THJ for Shamet (partially guaranteed), and then Shamet is SW'ed.

As we discussed elsewhere, that creates room to sign DJJ and someone else, perhaps a BAE sized player. 

The THJ for Grimes idea does kinda the same thing, with the Mavs ending up with DJJ and a player on a BAE sized contract.

In both scenarios, the issue would be how interested DET, or WAS, is in having THJ -- would they pay for the privilege, simply take him, or demand compensation? Ideally both teams would want the deal, and compete a bit for it.

I think DET would be more motivated between the two given all their connections. And I think Grimes is a fantastic consolation prize. I never really thought DET would move him, but after Stein mentioned his name my eyes widened.
