I don't think he is a scorer or playmaker. I like him because he isn't afraid to shoot when the ball gets swung around to him on the perimeter. Also, he can guard smaller/quicker guys than you ideally want DJJ or PJ guarding.
He complained to the media last year about his playing time with the Knicks and they shipped him off to Detroit.
I have to imagine he'd be a Josh Green replacement. (whether Green goes in this deal or another one)
