I hope Dirk forgives me. I find it really hard to root for Schroeder.

I wouldn´t be 100% sure you don´t have to root for him next season anyway. Schroeder for THJ is another trade that really fits what the Mavs try to accomplish in regards to DJJ. Schroeder/Kleber become the German version of Rodman/Pippen and we will three-peat.

...and if we are for once completely honest about it, then the reality is that Team Germany had about two good players in the 2010s and Dirk was in his mid 30s still carrying the load for a shitty Dallas team.

As much as people said: Damn it Schroeder, give the ball to Dirk. Dirk was 36 years old, when Schroeder started to play for Germany. Dirk simply could not carry the worst German generation in the summer anymore. 

Look at this Germany team now. They don´t even take Hartenstein and Kleber to the Olympics.
