Collins was a little disappointing in Utah this year but did get his three point percentage up to 37%. Utah gets an expiring in Hardaway and a guy that could be valuable to move if he is healthy. Plus a couple of seconds.
Dallas gets another player with size who can finish. He can play backup 4. A little small ball 5. Maybe pair him with PJ at the 3 and 4 at times.
His salary is not good but what do you think?
I don't hate it, but not INSTEAD of DJJ. Can't add Colins and lose DJJ because you'd be left with no quicker POA wing, unless you're in the "start Green" camp, and even then I think you've created a hole where Green used to be, coming off the bench. I think this creates a situation at the 4, with PJ and Collins, that they already have at the 5, with Lively and Gafford, and that Collins would probably need to come off the bench to make it work. I do think you've done a turn by making the Kleber spot younger, and it's a reasonably good solution to losing what Kleber brings to the table, but I feel like it's pretty clear Collins/Washington wouldn't work together (next to a center, at least).
If there's a way to do that AND re-sign DJJ, I'm in, only I'd much prefer Grant. He's longer, quicker, faster, a much better defender, more multi-positional and more generally versatile on both ends than Collins. Basically, he's a tier above Collins as a player and the difference is significant for me. I'd actually do a Grant deal even if it meant losing DJJ, I think. I feel that strongly about how he could potentially fit.
