GAME 3 NBA FINALS: Boston Celtics (2-0) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-2)

a) Celtics have a legit five out offense that can score against the Mavs defense. Something OKC and Minnesota couldn't do. Mavs could always play off one or two guys.
b) Luka and Kyrie aren't facing one or two good perimeter defenders. Basically an entire team of all-defense caliber perimeter defenders.

Both of your points are true.

But it also could be reasoned that if just 1 other guy could reliably score off the bench the Mavs would be more competitive. Just another threat.

Boston is a very good team. I don't think there's a single team in the NBA that could've beat them. But the Mavs had a chance if they didn't go ice cold.
