Whole bunch of people wanted to trade Dirk. Called him soft.

For sure.  And that's a great reminder of how things change with time. These guys are human. 

Still...Maybe I'm wrong about this, but Luka showed up with a lot more promise and confidence than Dirk had. My recollection is that the organization and fans were more confident about Dirk's talent than he was, himself. Luka wanted to stake his claim as one of the best from day 1. 

It might just be me, but if Luka's Mavs career plays out like Dirk's, with only one title that nobody sees coming...I'll be a little disappointed.
