I've had a suspicion that Kidd is going to implement an offense that is free from rigid roles unlike RC that had clear defined expectations from everyone on the court. Hopefully that doesn't allow TOO much freedom that lets WCS shoot threes.
I'm OK with more freedom in "roles". However, the role you envision for yourself playing in your driveway is not necessarily the role the team needs you to play. WCS flaring out to take a 3 only invites his defender to stay home and allow doubling Luka or applying more pressure to the other shooters. I hope this was an exhibition thing, like having Tyron Smith take a snap during the Blue/White scrimmage in training camp.
