Wow, that's crazy. He did such a good job with them this year. Good coach.

I imagine that means OKC is planning to commit to a full rebuild while Donovan prefers to coach for a contender. Let the firesale begin.

And as a side note, while I don't blame Donovan at all stuff like this really makes me appreciate Rick Carlisle. Though good times and bad, I'm thankful to have him leading the team.

Shoot, he might feel like he can get in with one of these other teams who aren't about to be in rebuilding Hell for at least 5 years. In other words, maybe it really is mutual. I wish everyone knew how lucky we are that Carlisle hung out for all the nonsense that's happened here since the title.

Is Donovan a good coach though? 1 above average year after almost 6 years of constantly under performing doesn't really redeem him in my own opinion.

The dude had Kevin Durant in his prime along with Russell Westbrook, and constantly his teams severely under performed expectations.

I feel like this year was more an addition of Chris Paul than Donovan being a good coach.

Good decision by OKC. Donovan isn't the guy and never was. It's not like they had nothing this season. Yeah they lost Westbrook and didn't have much depth but CP3/SGA/Schroder/Gallinari is still a better Big-4 than most teams in the league.

Let's see what moves Presti tries to make if they are indeed waving the flag and rebuilding with all of their draft picks. Gimme Schroder in a fire sale next season

Isn't that kind of what I said?

You said begrudgingly.  He's proven it.

Same for Nate McMillan. More like what have you done for me lately?

Rondo is back and there's nothing we can do about it  Sick At least it's against the Rockets

I was told by carlisle 5 years ago that he wasn't good enough to play against the rockets though

Proven right after all these years, you love to see it

He wasn't fired.  His contract expired.  OKC is going to rebuild.  He wants to try and coach a playoff team.

Do you know what begrudgingly means? I mean, I literally put him in my list of the best coaches in the league. Not sure there's a law that I have to be happy about it. That seems like an odd place to draw a line in the sand.  Confused

Remember how we all watched that series and he literally quit on the team, mid-game? That DID happen. I was a fan, too, if you remember, but he definitely did not play well here. Outside of these past two games I don't think he has really played well since.

Let's see him develop a young player not named Luka (I would put Powell too, but then Carlisle ignores how utterly hapless he is on defense and plays him so much that Cuban and Donnie think they have to give him a contract he would never have received from any of the 29 other teams in the league, period), be able to mesh with players who don't seem to have any trouble contributing well with other teams, learn how to go for the easy shot when trying to maintain leads, and coach defense adequately without Casey standing next to him. I'm one of those who once wanted to see him be our Sloan and retire here - as recently as a year ago. Not any more.

^This.  OKC could not give him a clear answer on how they planned to move ahead and he did not want to go through that uncertainty. So both agreed it was better for him to move on. He is expected to get a lot of interest for some of the coaching vacancies.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon reported the news Wednesday evening but did not disclose details on the alleged violation, other than that the incident in question occurred inside of the team's hotel. House was a late scratch for Game 3 and is listed out as Game 4 of the Rockets' series against the Los Angeles Lakers for "personal reasons."

The league and union are reportedly "discussing the issue," and House denies any wrongdoing. Per Wojnarowski and MacMahon, House could be subjected to a 10-day quarantine period depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Boston may have blew their chance. Toronto has momentum now. Kemba needs to score more than 5 pts.

Maxi, Dodo, and Seth were all developed by Rick
That Powell extension was rather weird though. Of all players I wonder why we chose to extend him. I can't think of another time where we extended someone a year before their contract was going to end. Maybe we did it with Dirk at some point. Always something I complained about us ignoring but that was the wrong player to try it on.
