What has Reggie said that's like Kyrie?

I'd take Ben Simmons in a heartbeat.  Other than point, PF is Simmons' natural position.  SF is Luka's.  When Simmons is at PG, Luka will be SF.  When Luka is at PG, Simmons will be PF.  This would also allow for a Wood starting position with enough defense on the floor...

PG - Luka/Simmons
SG - (whoever is left after the trade)
SF - DFS/Luka
PF - Simmons/Kleber
C - Wood/Powell

You think you want Simmons. You really don't. He's not desirable on way too many levels to make any sense.

Anyone thinking Ben Simmons will ever turn things around are fooling themselves. Ben Simmons sucks. He's done. Finished. He'll probably be out of the league by the time his contract is up. I hate to say this, but I actually think less of any poster here that advocates for trading for him. Anyone that can't see him for what he is now I think is either delusional or just hasn't watched him play since his early Philly days. He's broken and it's not going to change.

Oh and by the way he'll be making 35-40 million a year for the next two seasons after this. If you think it's a good idea to give up the kind of assets it would take to trade for them, then as Cuban would say, you should probably put down the crack pipe. I honestly don't think I would even trade Powell, Bertans, and McGee for him straight up. He's that much of a cancer.

Did I mention I hate Ben Simmons?

Thanks.  Just googled it.  What an idiot.  Now I want to trade him more.

It was less than a week ago that the Mavs were up by 2 points in Brooklyn. Luka had the ball with 12 seconds left.

Easy win, right? Well, no. Elite perimeter defender Ben Simmons managed a clean steal and assisted on a KD dunk to force overtime.  Just pointing out that was a very Kidd-like play, in only his 5th game back after surgery and sitting out a year.

Sure, Simmons comes with baggage, but I wonder how many people who say he's finished, also say THJ, Powell (and Bertans for that matter) are terrible players who should be traded just to keep them out of the rotation?

A trade for Simmons would be the reverse KP trade. Mavs turned one bad/injury-prone player on a max deal into two guys on smaller deals. Split the salary. Only to turn two smaller salaries into another injury-prone/bad max deal.
If it costs nothing else. Sure. Why not? Might as well roll the dice and hope that at some point one of the "fallen stars" gets back on track.

To be fair, he spoke in favor of Kanye as a person DESPITE the comments, and did not support what K said. Cuban, who is Jewish, bashed K but took RB's side in the criticism RB got.

I believe Reggie but it's impossible for anyone not intimately involved with Reggie to read his reply to Kanye as anything but support for those comments.  Reggie seems like a smart dude so it falls in the category of "how can someone so smart do something so stupid".  As always, social media was a mistake.

Those comments clarifying his position made no sense.

He said Kanye is his idol so he’s just supporting his idol. If my idol said he hated Jews, I’d be like that dude ain’t my idol anymore. I wouldn’t support him publicly.

I understand what Bullock clarified. His exact words were "I'm riding with you gang."

Like RoyTarpleysGhost said, if my "idol" started to spew anti-semitic rhetoric nearly every day for over a week, he wouldn't be my idol anymore and I certainly wouldn't publicly comment that I was "with him".

These are grown men. Why are we pussyfooting over the intention of their words? This should be cut and dry and they should know better. My own community was vandalized with swastikas and N-words all over several entrance signs and a children's playground 4 days ago. And I have no doubt in my mind it's happening because Kanye+Kyrie are trying to make anti-semitism cool. Any player even remotely voicing support for them has forever lost my support.

Difficult to judge the Simons idea. Certainly Simons now looks bad, which is why he is cheap. Can he turn it around and become remotely good? On the Mavs side, they could keep all the assets and still have contracts for that one big trade. It doesn't really change a lot.

What I don't really understand is, why Brooklyn would have any need for THJ. They already have Harris and Curry and they are both better shooters than THJ.

I don't know that I am sold on the idea of dumping THJ (yet)...
but IF there was a trade that moved THJ, Bertans AND McGee you would probably consolidate those salaries and be better off.
I would be in favor of a deal that packaged those 3 for Curry and Simmons which would increase payroll about $3 million this year.
I'd like to see Dallas get a 2nd rd pick in the deal for the added salary commitment though NJ might feel Curry is too much given the other way.

Simmons is a KP problem, but exponentially greater. Why would we do that? Curry would be great, but Simmons is a crap-ton to stretch-waive, which is what you'd be doing after this year.
