Ya, Murray, Brunson and Barrett is a pretty stellar young trio.

Not nearly enough ball for all of them.

Now that would be a trip. TJ and Butler have quite the history between them.

So Brunson is going to play with 3 teammates with upper 20% usage?  And Murray is a better playmaker than Brunson (who is more of a combo guard).  If Murray goes to NY and Brunson new about it, that kills the narrative that he wants to lead his own team.

And they likely trade Randle in this scenario. If Randle isn't going back to San Antonio (word is they are trying to tank hard), they can find a decent return (rotation player or two) for him elsewhere.

Brunson/Murray/Barrett/Toppin/Robinson and 6th man Quickley is young, fast, and fun.

I think there's plenty. I don't see Murray as a natural scorer, he's at his best playing lights out defense, playmaking, and scoring 15-17 ppg.

I'm sure part of this is Brunson wanting the ball, wanting his team, etc, but let's be honest. It's about the money.

It’s always about the money. Mavs haven’t matched to this point. It’s that simple.

Seeing what possibly the Mavs want to offer, this is true. Not sure of the validity of that tweet though.

Do we know this?  Do we know that Cuban is unwilling to pay vs Brunson wanting to play in NY?

The McMahon story says we offered FVV $(4/85)only with a 5th year. If so then Cuban cheaped out. Knicks offering about 4m more per year.

I would not want him on our team, and I think MC is in agreement with that sentiment, but how much would we be compensated to help facilitate a trade to get flat earth to the Lakers? My thought is using that trade to get off of Bertans and THJ’s salaries while taking on the 1 year left of Westbrook. I don’t have much more framework than that, just a thought.

Cuban and Nico offered/signed THJ $18.75 AVV last summer. What a disgrace.

Jake Fischer did say the Mavs were confident in keeping it under $100M, and that 4/90 was the target range. Give the Knicks credit, they ponied up, and Cuban cheapened out. All talk, Cuban will never change.

Cuban should sell the team if that's true. You have a young superstar that's ready to start winning now. This is not the time to be cheap, damn it. 25 million a year for a starting point guard is fine in today's salary structure, especially with the cap set to go up again soon. We can't just keep throwing away good players like this. At worst it's terrible asset management, but it also looks bad to other players that we aren't willing to spend to keep the team together.

You would theoretically walk into next year with….

Luka - 39.5
Dinwiddie - 18.8
DFS - 13.3
Bullock - 10.4
Wood extension - 18?

Approx 30 million in cap space.

All that to say, I would only consider this if they buyout Russ and he never plays a game here.

With $30 million in cap space you could legitimately go out and get a solid piece like……

Jalen Brunson
