Main thing I get from these Finals is that the Mavs are not that far away. We just need more guys, especially in the front court. But Luka would be the best player on the court compared to these two teams.

The conference finals were played every other day until series was concluded.  The finals have been with only 1 exception thus far 1 game every 3 days.  With a schedule like that the Mavs would have had a better chance against GS.  With our smaller rotation demanding heavy minutes from our regulars, the extra day between games could have made a difference in the outcome.  No doubt GS was thee better team, but with fresher legs more of our open shots may have gone in and it been a much closer series with maybe a different outcome.

Main thing that these finals taught me is we are pretty far away. These two teams have so many basketball players, we have a few.

Man I have the opposite take from you. Yeah I agree we need more basketball players, but the thing is even 3 basketball players are way easier to get than just 1 star. We can absolutely get a couple basketball players this offseason.

Right there with you.

We were exactly 7 wins away from hoisting a trophy. That counts for something. Doubly so when you factor in the Mavs had one of the more difficult paths to the finals and they still shone.

I do think the West next season is about to get a whole lot more difficult next season. Clippers are back. Nuggets are back. Theoretically Pelicans make a leap with a healthy Zion. Does Portland magically create a competitive team around Dame this summer too?

Out of all the teams that made the playoffs, the only ones I really see dropping out of the race are the Wolves and Pelicans, but they could just as easily build on their success not falter.

All this to say the Mavs need to get 2-3 more guys like we've all been repeating. If they do that then they can be real contenders next season.

Not the type we need, esp if you’re out on Harris, who should be one of the easier gets. If we have a good enough C and Bullock is coming off the bench next year, we may be able to repeat our performance next year. Maybe even win 2 games in the WCF!

If we’re mainly running it back by getting a lower end C like Hartenstein, Muscala, et al. and getting a lower end wing that cannot supplant Bullock, then we won’t make the WCF without more major injuries to other teams.

So far Tatum is having an all time bad scoring/efficiency series for a so called superstar. 34.1% FG, 47.6% TS. One game with at least league average shooting percentages and the Celtics would most likely be up 3-1.

Is it a good thing to have such a high number of these as a team? I see Bos as the only other team with more than us, but they can hang their hat on defense and athleticism. Just not fully sure how to take this?
